Support Worker
£11.05 per hour *plus £1 extra per hour weekend enhancement
Boston Spa, Leeds - Various Hours Available
At Errol House we have 5 individuals living with us – 2 young ladies and 3 lovely gentlemen, who all need support due to their varying conditions (cerebral palsy, autism and learning disabilities).
All the individuals living here at Errol House are non-verbal and require 1:1 support with aspects of 2:1 support when they access the community. 3 of the individuals are also wheelchair users so the use of hoists and manual handling will occur throughout the service, but full training will be provided around this.
Although being non-verbal, each individual has their own way of communicating with staff members to ensure their needs are met, whether this be through Makaton or tapping of the wrist to say yes/no.
Our individuals are all very active and love engaging regularly in their hobbies and activities which include the likes of, swimming, horse-riding, going to sensory rooms, going on walks and meals out, watching football and other sports to wheelchair ice skating sessions! Each individual has an amazing and mischievous sense of humour and love nothing more than joking around with staff. You can expect your working day at Errol House to be fun, full of activities and endless laughs!!
Key Responsibilities:
- Attend activities and events with individuals
- Assist with meal preparation and medication management
- Support individuals with household tasks, such as cleaning and laundry
- Accompany individuals to appointments and community activities
- Monitor and report any changes in physical or mental health to appropriate staff members
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of care provided
- Provide personal care to individuals, including bathing, dressing, and toileting
Requirements:
- A compassionate and caring nature
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- A willingness to undergo relevant training and development
